Is there a car that makes you feel a special way whenever you see it?
Whenever I see an Audi R8 it makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. I know that’s a weird thing to feel at the sight of the most tame supercar ever but it just happens. I’ve noticed that whenever I’m having a shitty or stressful time and I see an Audi R8 (in real life or on a screen) I get this warm wave of optimism wash over me. Sort of like an, “it’s okay, it feels horrible now but if you keep at it maybe you’ll be able to get one of these one day.”
Yes, I know, not everyone can afford a supercar. But I’m just one of those people who needs something to look forward to. I need to work towards something otherwise I just feel like my life is being wasted. I certainly hope that constant need to move forward will help me be able to amass a large enough amount of wealth to afford all the cars I want one day. It’s kind of demoralizing at times though when you see your peers who have nice cars and places while you don’t. Even worse is when you see couples and you’re just alone and trying to work your ass off at work not sure if the sacrifice is going to lead to where you want it to.
That took a weird turn...I didn’t intend for this to be a personal/reflection post. I’ve had a Cuba Libre and a glass of wine tonight so I’m feeling a little tipsy. Sorry not sorry.
TL,DR: Is there a car that makes you feel a special way whenever you see it?

I’ve become accustomed to the sound of the 2013+ Honda Accord, so whenever I hear the distinct clatter and see one rolling by, I just smile because they didn’t buy a Camry.

My father’s A110 is the top one... Otherwise, I feel all weird when I see a 240Z, an E30 M3 and a McLaren F1... That’s about it though.

There are worse choices than a 2013+ Accord. They’re great cars.

Oh man, e30 M3s. I’ll never forget the first time I got a ride in one. We were blasting through a canyon as the sun was rising in Monterey. The engine was singing to redline as if it were the last drive to ever take place before the earth would end. Even in the passenger seat I could feel the handling characteristics of it. Amazing.

Honestly? It’s old cars from GM. Like anywhere from the 70s to about 1999. Those are cars that make me feel OK.
(as long as they’re not like filled with trash and shit, which, obviously, many of them are)

My own car. I own it, I drive it when ever I want, I do what I want to it, I can drive it how I want. Only one other car has ever done that, I saw it CIAS in Toronto. No need to explain. It was my first time seeing a McLaren F1 in person, a damn good one to see.

Mother of god. If you only ever see 1 McLaren F1, that is definitely not a bad one at all.

You like what you like. This is a safe place. Yes, unfortunately most 90s GM products I see have trash all over the interior or oxidized clear coat.

I don't like them-like them... But a late-90s GM car says something, these days.

Any car that myself or my parents have previously owned makes me feel safe, happy, and warm. Probably the same for everyone else, especially if they had good memories in that car.

Any model car I’ve owned or been around.
Seeing new enthusiast-oriented cars also makes me feel warm inside, because it tells me car culture is alive and well.

I can second this. Whenever I spot my Accord in a parking lot or I see it in my garage, it just makes me feel good.

I often come back to Jeremy Clarkson’s TG review of the Ferrari 458. It helps that I saw the film while playing with a yellow Hot Wheels version of one when I was 10, which means every positive emotion comes back to me whenever I play it again and see my toy car. And when I saw one in my town I just grinned with glee from ear-to-ear, affirming everything Clarkson loved about the car. Similar experience with the GT-R, though my toy car has since been blown to bits with firecrackers.
That's gonna leave a mark!

Yes, a number of cars I have owned in the past. When I see one on the road or in a picture I get that feeling. Sort of like seeing an old girlfriend you had good memories with.

My 2003Evo. We've had it since new. It has been a fantastic car. Fun to drive and reliable.

Old cars that are daily drivers. A few years ago I was in Victoria, British Columbia, I am walking around and come upon a small shop that obviously specializes in older imports. Sitting there is a series 1 E type coupe, this was a few years ago, but they were already serious money cars. The car is not a mess, but it has a few small signs of wear and tear, and it has various personal goods of sitting in it, a couple books, a jacket, and a few others pieces of daily life you often see in a car used for regular transportation.
That is my car happy place, not something that has been restored to better than factory perfection and you are scared to do anything with it, just a cool old car that is being driven and enjoyed. Makes me feel nostalgic for when such cars were indeed used cars, and also aspirational like the original poster that maybe, if the world goes right, I will drive a car like that someday.

Interesting Japanese cars from the 90s.
Particularly the Cube (2nd gen). Every time I see one I get very happy and very excited.

I didn’t realize how long ago the 458 came out until I googled it just now. Wow! I share you feeling with the F12 review Clarkson did. That video always gives me chills at the end. Same with the Disco Volante review he did. The music combined with the engine and camera shots. Perfection. The epitomy of top gear

The CLK63 AMG Black, it always makes me happy. I can’t wait to afford one. Its a few years down the road, but depreciation is my friend.

Oh that takes me back. I remember reading about the first ever CLK black series as a kid and being completely enamored with it. I still love it to this day regardless of what everyone says about it. It will always be one of the most gorgeous AMGs ever to me.
